Water System – Mobile Units (Tuk Tuk)

Purpose: Manage water supply and drainage for mobile coffee units (Tuk Tuks) safely and hygienically.

Scope

All mobile Tuk Tuk units operated by Little Coffee Bean Co.

Equipment Required

  • Fresh water barrel (food-grade)
  • Wastewater barrel (food-grade)
  • Water pump
  • Fresh water pipe and connectors
  • Wastewater pipe
  • Thermometer
  • Daily checklist

Starting Your Day

Step 1: Fresh Water Setup

  1. Position fresh water barrel next to Tuk Tuk
  2. Place fresh water pipe into barrel, ensuring it touches the bottom
  3. Secure pipe to prevent disconnection during operation

Step 2: Activate Water System

  1. Locate water pump (front of Tuk Tuk, next to driver’s seat)
  2. Turn pump ON
  3. Use fresh water tap (behind coffee machine on counter)
  4. Turn tap on and allow water to flow for 30 seconds
  5. Prime system: Place pipe into fresh water barrel and run until smooth flow (no air bubbles)

Step 3: Coffee Machine Activation

  1. Turn coffee machine to setting 2
  2. This activates the coffee machine water request system
  3. Check water is flowing smoothly through machine
  4. Record water temperature on daily log

During Service

Hourly Checks:

  1. Check water flow at tap
  2. Verify no leaks under machine
  3. Ensure pump is running (listen for motor sound)
  4. Monitor water barrel level

Water Pressure Issues:

  1. Check fresh water barrel is not empty
  2. Verify pipe is submerged in barrel
  3. Check pump switch is ON
  4. Listen for pump motor running
  5. Report to manager if pressure remains low

Drainage Management

Wastewater System:

  1. Grey pipe under coffee machine feeds to wastewater barrel
  2. Wastewater barrel must be emptied regularly throughout shift
  3. Dispose of wastewater via designated drain or sluice room
  4. Never allow barrel to overflow

Blocked Drains:

  1. Check black cup (thick grey pipe) is not blocked
  2. Clear any debris from cup opening
  3. Ensure grey pipe is not kinked
  4. If blockage persists, report to manager

Leak Detection:

  1. Check under coffee machine drip tray regularly
  2. Look for water pooling or dripping
  3. Inspect all pipe connections
  4. Small leaks: Report via incident form
  5. Large leaks: Notify manager immediately and submit incident form

Closing Your Day

  1. Turn off water pump
  2. Remove fresh water pipe from barrel
  3. Empty wastewater barrel completely
  4. Disconnect and drain wastewater pipe
  5. Store barrels safely
  6. Document any issues on checklist
  7. Report problems to manager

Weekly Maintenance

  • Clean water barrel interior
  • Inspect all pipes for cracks or damage
  • Test water temperature
  • Check pump operation
  • Flush entire system

Safety Notes

  • Do not operate without fresh water barrel in place
  • Never leave pump running unattended
  • Check for leaks before each service
  • Report all water issues immediately
  • Ensure barrels are food-grade certified
